From my debut photography book A Year In London.
I vividly remember taking this photo even though it was nearly 10 years ago now. I was walking around trying to think of clever angles or set up some kind of interesting scene, it was very busy, I think it was rush hour in fact and I saw another photographer just standing head on to passersby. From what I could tell he was really paying much attention to the framing of his images or much else, just shooting blindly and hoping for the best.
To say I took inspiration would be an overstatement but I remember copying him and find myself pretty happy with what came out. This lady in particular stood out to me, amidst a sea of rush hour commuters she had a strong look about her and gave me an even stronger look when she noticed me taking a photo.
